Welcome to the first Curate Studio Blog post!
A huge thank you to those who have been following along since the beginning and a warm welcome to those of you who are just joining us. Keep an eye out in the future for our favorite design trends, new products, style guides, and more.
To start us off I wanted to help out with a Holiday Gift Guide with items that are in stock and ready to go at Curate Studio. For your convenience, we’ve just implemented $10 flat rate shipping, and free shipping for orders over $150! This gift guide includes unique gift options for him, for her, and for the person that’s hard to buy for.
If I’m being totally honest, I’ve never considered myself a very Christmas-y person. Don’t get me wrong – I love the tradition of picking out and decorating a tree each year with my family and the family dinners and baking, but the rest of it can be so overwhelming! Especially when it comes to buying the perfect gift. I feel like I always over do it and then it still doesn’t seem right. I try to give gifts that my friends and family would not only want, but that I think that they need! But what are you supposed to do when the person you’re buying for already has everything they need and you don’t want to buy them a pair of socks or a tie? Well, you look at this gift guide of course!
I’ve broken it down into a couple categories of people that I know we all know at least one of. For example, I am the friend that is always cold. I actually can’t feel my fingers right now.
Check out these ideas and find more inspiration on the Holiday Gift page of the store.
For your closest friend:
One of the best gifts I’ve ever received was a framed photo of me and the friend who gave it to me. It was such a thoughtful, yet simple gift, that I will cherish for years to come. Frame that photo of you and your BFF that has the most likes on your Instagram in a beautiful tabletop picture frame that they’ll want to hold on to and look at every day.
For your foodie friend:
This acacia recipe box is perfect for the person in your life who loves to cook. While it’s not only the cutest kitchen accessory I think I’ve ever seen, it’s functional and can easily become an heirloom piece to be passed down for generations. Because really, is anyone a better cook than Grandma? Make sure you have that cookie recipe written down on the recipe cards that are included with the box. Make it extra special by including a tea towel in the box with different prints to chose from to fit everyone’s personality. I recommend Bicycle for the person the outdoorsy person, Second Bottle for the wine connoisseur, or Sunflower for the person missing warm weather and sunshine.
For your friend that’s hard to buy for:
We all have at least one person in our life that’s difficult to buy a present for, or maybe there’s someone that you’ve been spending a lot of time with but still don’t know them very well yet. I’m here to give you an idea: something scented! Check out the bar soaps that are bar inspired. I guarantee you’ll find your friend’s favorite cocktail in soap form AND they’re eco-friendly. Still not sure? Too small of a gift? (Don’t forget about stocking stuffers!) Try one of our best selling scented candles – here and here – paired with the mini apothecary matches in their favorite color. These three options are a win/win if your friend smells kind of bad sometimes.
For your friend that’s always cold:
I am ALWAYS cold. No, really – I am the classic California girl who turns the heat on as soon as it’s below 70° out. But can you blame me? It was 85° out like two weeks ago! This cold weather takes some getting used to! If I’m reminding you of anyone, check out the throw blankets. There’s recycled cotton, organic cotton, Merino wool, and Merino Cashmeres to pick from. Seriously, there’s so many options that it’s impossible to pick one that they aren’t going to love. But to help you start choosing take a look at the eco cotton throws from Happy Habitat. The best part? They’re machine washable.
For that someone special:
Sometimes the smaller the box is the better the gift is. The perfect piece of jewelry can be the perfect gift. Something flashy with lots of diamonds is always fun but let’s be honest here… I think most of us can agree that receiving a piece of jewelry that we can wear every day is way better. A simple, delicate necklace or bracelet that can be layered and stacked with other pieces is going to see a lot more action than some silly tennis bracelet (why are they even called that?) Click here for our best selling necklace, bracelet, and earrings.
For the hostess:
Why are hostess gifts so hard? You could always do a last minute bottle of wine I guess…that is, if you’re okay with your host knowing you didn’t plan the gift ahead of time. Show them you care with a sleek bottle opener to help get the party started and a pair of hand dipped, dripless taper candles to help set the mood. A handwritten thank you note on a LanabyLana Design card will definitely solidify the fact that you are without a doubt their most thoughtful, gracious guest.
For the guy that has everything already:
There’s always that guy. The one who says he doesn’t know what he wants for Christmas but then has a package addressed to himself at the door one week before. You know, the guy that buys himself whatever catches his eye even right before their birthday or a major gift giving holiday? You know who I’m talking about. It’s probably your dad, or your boyfriend, or whatever man you are closest to that makes it IMPOSSIBLE for you to buy him a gift. Well I can promise you this, he does NOT have a brass octopus yet. Meet Paul. Paul is the best. Talk about a unique gift!
Hopefully this list gave you some great ideas. If you can’t decide on something – let them choose with a gift card.
Thank you for supporting local and shopping small this holiday season. If the Curate Studio Gift Guide still wasn’t quite what you had in mind, here are some other local stores for you to consider supporting on Small Business Saturday (Nov 28th):
The Blossom Cart (We’re doing a Pop-Up Flower Shop with them every Saturday in December)
Dogville (your furry friend deserves a gift too!)
